HHS Now Introduces New Surprise Bill Compliance Rules

Image
The new rule addresses nearly all concerns related to surprise medical bills. It gives a guideline about areas where clinicians have to be careful and how state and federal rules can work together. CMS has promised the betterment of the healthcare system in the US through its Merit-based Incentive Program. That’s why it has made several changes every year. Currently, MIPS 2022 is almost at its ending phase and we have MIPS 2023 framework. Thereby, clinicians are now in a hurry to fulfill the current data completeness requirements for the upcoming MIPS reporting program. MIPS 2023 will have a relatively rigid framework. Those clinicians who are deciding to report quality measures in MIPS 2023 are entered in the preparatory phase. MIPS reporting for quality measures requires clinicians to submit data for 70% of eligible encounters to CMS. However, this weightage will be upgraded for MIPS 2024 and 2025 PY. What Does a Good Medical Billing Software Do?

We have listed down all the adamant features that you can find in good billing software. So, if you are thinking about getting one, read this article to know what you should be looking for. CMS has provided a list for each set of category measures. All MIPS 2023 participants can pick the measures by themselves. MIPS 2023 final rule has brought significant changes in almost all categories. However, the quality category has major changes. For MIPS 2023 reporting, CMS has mandated the selection of at least one high-priority measure among all quality measures to be reported by eligible clinicians. High-priority measures are a part of health-related quality measures . In short, CMS has finalized 198 quality measures in total for MIPS 2023 reporting during the performance period. Among these measures, it has made substantive changes to 76 existing quality measures. Along with this, it has introduced 9 more quality measures ; 1 of these 9 measures is an administrative claim measure . Mor

How to Enhance The Performance of Your Medical Billing?

Technology has changed everything, and its impact on medical billing services is not a mystery anymore. Automated tools to code, bill, and even follow-up services, all have been digitalized to improve medical billing performance. Just like MIPS 2022 , MIPS 2023 has almost the same framework. In the previous MIPS program, the eligibility determination depended on the performance, reporting, and evaluation of MIPS participants in two segments. The first segment is the MIPS preliminary period for the determination of initial eligibility. During this period, the clinicians report the data for selected measures from the previous year. This preliminary period for MIPS 2023 starts on October 1, 2021, and ends on September 30, 2022. MIPS eligibility determination segment 2 decides the final eligibility of a participant. This period is reconciled with segment 1 results. Participants can actively continue their MIPS reporting unless they are restricted from doing so in snapshot 3 if they ar

According to guidelines, every event and upcoming activity is already scheduled. All clinicians participating this year have to stay updated and manage their data accordingly. They must choose their category measures earlier. This will facilitate them in doing utmost preparations on time and they will only focus on their performance and reporting during the MIPS PY 2023. The period for MIPS reporting starts on Thu, 12/01/2022 and this reporting session for MIPS will come to an end on Sun, 12/31/2023 . During this period, participants will face their MIPS Determination Period . MIPS Determination Period overall consists of two segments; one for initial eligibility and the second for final eligibili

Track Performance via P3Care’s Guide to MIPS 2021 Deadlines

Go through all the MIPS 2021 deadlines and keep a check on how you are doing in the performance period. It will help you go through the program efficiently without being burdened in the end and without missing out on any reporting requirement. QPP MIPS does not include any updates for PY 2023 Improvement Activities reporting. It weighs the same 15% of the total MIPS score. Anyhow, there are some variations in the Improvement Activities (IAs) list that are necessary to mention here. MIPS 2023 forwards 5 new alterations to pre-existing Improvement Activities. One such fluctuation necessitates the QCDR data utilization for all ongoing practice assessments. Likewise, there were four new IAs that included the implementation of a Language Access Plan in large weightage and Vaccination for Practice staff from Covid-19 in medium weightage. These variations in the Improvement Activities list do not end here. The changes prohibit the QCDR usage for feedback reports usually incorporated in popul

For PY 2022 and 2021, CMS has maintained a lot of MIPS program flexibilities to mitigate the damage brought on by the pandemic COVID 19. It has provided significant relief during the MIPS reporting program. The MIPS 2022 performance year is about to come to an end though, and we have recovered from the Covid-19 crisis. After completing MIPS 2022, MIPS-eligible physicians must now brace themselves for MIPS 2023 . The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have advanced the MIPS 2023 and other two new QPP reporting paths by proposing regulations for the Physician Fee Schedule for 2023 and following forthcoming performance
